Now, more than ever, us women need to stand together as warriors and each do our part to ensure that each and every mother, child, daughter and friend is heard, held and supported.

The North Shore Crisis Services Society (NSCSS) has been doing just that and have supported women and children fleeing domestic abuse for over 40 years. Sadly, the need for our services has not diminished, and we continue to turn away hundreds of women each year.

All proceeds from our fifth annual Gala of Grace will go towards a new second-stage house for women and children fleeing domestic abuse.

Join us at this vibrant celebration! Gather your girlfriends, coworkers, and the special women in your life, put on your prettiest Spring party dress, and enjoy an afternoon of laughter, love and community engagement.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our postponement of the Gala of Grace once again.

With the recent request from Dr. Bonnie Henry to cancel any large events for the remainder of 2020, we decided to prioritize the health and safety of all of you, our volunteers, and our entire community by postponing the date again.

We are hoping for an early Spring 2021 event but will decide on a date when we know it is safe to do so.

Our Key Sponsors, BlueShore Financial and Watson Goepel, are fully supportive of this decision to simply wait. We are currently contacting all our special guests, sponsors, and suppliers that were lined up to participate. To date, I am happy to announce that everyone is very supportive of this decision and remain on board at this time.

This isn’t a cancellation because we are ready to go. Everything is in place and the tickets are all sold. We would like to simply put a pause on the event and allow our researchers and first responders to do their important jobs while the majority of us stay at home waiting until it is safe to all come together again.

Sadly, although home is where most of us are safest through this, for women and children facing domestic abuse, it is the last place they want to be. For them, it is the least safe place of all.

Domestic abuse calls in our community are up, and many women and children are facing situations at home that are impossible to avoid.

SAGE House, our emergency shelter, is now full – but our telephone Outreach Team continue to take calls from women facing violence at home as they try to cope with isolation and their abusers. We ask you to please consider a donation at this time. We may not be able to fundraise together right now but we can still provide the help and resources to keep these women and children safe. Donate now at the button above.

As a ticket holder, we are offering two choices:

1) Hold on to your virtual ticket(s) for guaranteed attendance as soon as we secure a new date. If the new date does not work, you will be entitled to a full refund at that time.

2) Email us at to request a full refund by May 15th latest. See below for full details*. (Please note that this is a sold out event with a long waitlist. Anyone requesting a refund at any time will not be able to re-purchase at a later date.)

As difficult as it was to postpone the Gala of Grace again, we all know it is the right thing to do. We can all reunite when this is over and make up for all the hugs we missed during this time.

On behalf of the entire Gala of Grace committee and the North Shore Crisis Services Society, we wish you and yours health and safety.

Pat Kelly
